Shaded trails, native planting and water-wise landscape engineering turn the city's natural wadi into its central park.
At the centre of the Madinat Al Irfan masterplan is a natural wadi. Rather than building over it, the plan turns it into the city's defining public space: a park of around 108 hectares that every neighbourhood can reach on foot.
A landscape that works with the climate
The park keeps the wadi's natural role in managing seasonal water while creating shaded routes, gathering lawns and play spaces along its banks. Planting draws on species native to northern Oman, chosen for low water demand and resilience in summer heat.
- Continuous walking and cycling trails linking every district
- Shaded plazas, majlis-style pavilions and outdoor fitness stations
- Water-wise irrigation inspired by the logic of the traditional falaj
The wadi park will host the city's festivals, from the Wadi Run to Irfan Lights, and is the first stop on the community map in the Discover section.
